Tooth with deep cavity tastes very foul - also "preventative extractions?"

Hi everyone,
As I mentioned in the Support forum, my dentist/OS's office had recently burned down and I am waiting until they set up a new location.
In the mean time I saw a diff. dentist today becauseI thought I had an abscess (turns out I have some kind of deep cyst in my cheek instead).
But this dentist told me that I need three minor fillings, and three back molars extracted. I have no wisdom teeth although the bottom-back-left is only a partially erupted second molar. I'm confused b/c two of the teeth he wants to extract is because they are "too hard to clean" with no decay. The other has a very deep cavity but not in the pulp so why can;t he just fill it? And why pull two teeth that do not need pulled?
Anywho, my main question is...........this funky taste coming from the tooth that has that deep cavity. Back in February when I had my #2 extracted, the abscess and gum tissue around it (it was broken at the gumline) tasted horrible; It tasted like decay - a very specific taste - and it sorta went away once the tooth was removed, BUT, the tooth directly below it (which is the one that has a very deep cavity) seems to taste the same way....not as severe....is this a phantom taste since it is directly below my extracted #2?
Is this leftover nastiness from that extraction? What would cause this rotten taste?
-could the tooth really have a taste?
-is it the gum?
-phantom taste from the previously abscessed #2( now removed)?
The taste is only when I "lick" the tooth with my tongue - I don't taste it on any other teeth but I DO taste it whenever I "Lick" the gum area where the #2 molar used to be.
Any advice is very greatly appreciated, I am scared every time I type one of these messages out.

A deep cavity will taste bad if the nerve in the tooth has died, pus and gunge from the infected nerve space will leak out into the mouth, but the tooth won't be painful. The leakage is preventing pressure build up which is what causes pain.

Hi Gordon,
Does that mean the tooth is abscessed?
I don't understand how the nerve in my tooth would be dead since, while the cavity is deep, it isn't near the pulp. How could the nerve be dead if the cavity isn't in the pulp?

Ok, I am a little calmed down now as I found out the exact source of the taste.... when I was flossing between certain teeth there is an odor on the floss. It doesn't occur but only in two or three of my back teeth - the rest are odorless - but when I floss these back teeth the odor is also the taste.
I understand that (after consulting with Google....) bacteria between teeth can cause this, normal bacteria, and can diminish with proper and regular flossing....
But is it a sign of something more serious..?

Have you had your gums checked for periodontal pockets in those back teeth? Gum disease can taste and smell pretty nasty.

The dentists never mention gum problems when they examine my teeth....
I was looking at my x-rays and it turns out that the bad taste is only between teeth that have a cavity (the strongest tasting one only needs a small filling, the other tooth has a deep cavity that might be able to be filled but could just have it pulled instead).
I've been asking everyone around me and they all say I have the freshest breath and the most obsessively clean mouth.
I find it ironic the taste only occurs when I floss the two teeth that have cavities? Can someone PLEASE shed some light on this??
